Brent Crude Approaches $100 a Barrel Amid Renewed Middle East Escalation

Brent crude surged to a fresh multi-week high on Tuesday as renewed tensions in the Middle East threatened to further disrupt limited oil flows through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Prices moved closer to the psychologically significant $100-per-barrel mark after Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen launched attacks on Saudi Arabian energy facilities, raising fears of a broader regional conflict and deepening uncertainty over global oil supplies.

The rally gained momentum following a breakout above last week’s three-day consolidation range, confirming a continuation of the bullish move from the August 26 higher low at $84.58. This advance forms part of the broader recovery from the August 5 low of $78.10 and brings the key $100 threshold firmly into focus. A decisive break above this level could carry substantial psychological significance for markets.

Supportive technical indicators on the daily chart reinforce the bullish fundamental backdrop. However, resistance around the $100 zone may prove challenging, given the importance of this level and increasingly overbought market conditions.

Should current geopolitical tensions persist or worsen, any consolidation or shallow pullbacks may be viewed as opportunities for bulls to establish positions ahead of a potential breakout above $100.

On the downside, the previously breached 76.4% Fibonacci retracement at $96.34 and the former August 21 peak at $94.81 have now turned into support levels, helping to underpin the market.

A sustained move above $100 would open the way for a test of the July 23 high at $101.97.
